Belgrade summer festival – BELEF

Belgrade summer festival BELEF 08, is an international festival of theatre, music and visual arts. This year, between the 14th of July and the 3rd of August it will be held for the 23rd time in a row.
The theatrical programme composed by Mr. Zanko Tomic will revolve around a concept named “The Fortress Europe”, since the plays will be presented mainly within the walls of the Belgrade fortress.
Contemporary dance, as an aspect of performing arts, will also be included in the programme as well as music selected by Mr. Zeljko Krleta. This time, jazz will be under the spot light with renowned performers such as „Cinematic Orchestra“, visually attractive Pharoah Sanders and a legendary guitar player Keziah Jones.
As far as visual arts are concerned Mr. Dorijan Kolundzija prepared a special aesthetic experience for all visitors. The idea is to physically reshape Belgrade by making artistic efforts that would eventually turn the city into an art galery and a master piece of modern artistic expression.
This year’s festival will carry a personal signature of Isidora Nikolic, a young artist that won BELEF’s open competition.
The founder and patron of BELEF is Belgrade’s city assembly.
