Eurovision Song Contest 2008

The 53rd Eurovision Song Contest will take place in Belgrade Arena, Belgrade from 20 to 24 May 2008.

The song „Molitva“, performed last year in Helsinki by marija Serifovic, has given us the opportunity to host the competition for the first time. Jovana Jankovic and a musician Zeljko Joksimovic are the hosts of this year’s Eurosong.

Eurosong is, together with the Olympic Games and World Football Championship, the biggest global spectacle. More than 200 million viewers worldwide watches the manifestation every year. For the first time in the history of the competition there will be two semi-finals: the first will take place on 20 May and the second on 22 May. A record number of countries - 43 - will participate in this year’s Eurosong. The finals will take place on 24 may - on the same day when the first Eurovision Song Contest took place.

The tickets for the spectacle were sold out just in two hours. Belgrade Arena, with its 14,000 seats, is too small for all of those who would like to watch the spectacle live. All the people who did not manage to buy their tickets on time can watch the spectacle via TV, Internet or a big screen that will be installed on Kalemegdan.

Over 500 foreign correspondents are acredited. The Euroclub is the place where the participants can meet with the correspondents and the fans of the festival.

During the Eurovision Song Contest Beklgrade will be the center of Europe. Incredibly large number of foreign tourists will visit the city. The hosts are looking forward to the beginning of the spectacle. They also announced that this would be the best Eurosong so far.

A lot of energy is spent so that everything can be perfect. This year’s Eurosong has already broken some records and all the prerequisites of a great spectacle are there. All of us can hardly wait for the beginning - to see the stage, hosts, performers and their choreographies.

The moment when Jelena Tomasevic enters the stage and starts singing „Oro“, a song that brings back special memories, will fill our hearts with pride.
