The History of “Exit”
EXIT 00 - The Beginning
The festival is the result of students’ rebellion against the cultural ghetto in which Serbia had been for a long time. The first venue of the festival was the lawn between the Faculty of Philosophy and the bank of the river Danube. In the times of cultural and every other kind of isolation of Serbia, a couple of young and ambitious people have organized it themselves. At the beginning the festival gathered the young people from Novi Sad and other towns, who were coming to see free concerts, plays, parties, discussions, films. Within 100 days there were 34 concerts of Serbia’s most popular bands, 12 plays, over 120 film screenings, 20 discussions, 40 big parties and 11 performances.
