Belgrade Jazz Festival - Strictly Jazz!
From 24 to 29 October.
The 23rd Belgrade Jazz Festival will have the best offer of contemporary jazz. The stars of the festival are jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater, modern jazz pianist Brad Mehldau and Portuguese singer Maria Joao.
The festival will take place in Pozoriste na Terazijama theatre, Kolarceva zaduzbina hall, Dom Sindikata and Sava Centre. There will be 2 concerts per evening. The accompanying program will take place in Cinema Rex and Bitef Art Cafe.

Organizer: Dom Omladine Belgrade has prepared the off program “Round Midnight” in Bitef Art Cafe, afternoon program in Cinema Rex and workshops in Art School „Stankovic“.
The festival will be opened in Pozoriste na Terazijama theatre by a clarinetist, saxophonist and composer Gianluigi Trovesi, the long-time member of the well-known “Italian Instabile Orchestra“. During his career he has recorded albums based on Umberto Eco’s works.
Portuguese singer Maria Joao will perform on 26 October in Dom Sindikata, presenting her new album „Joao“, which is completely dedicated to Brazilian music. This interesting singer has so far performed the music ranging from Portuguese pop to Tom Waits interpertations and electronica influences.
The next two concerts will take place in Kolarceva zaduzbina hall, which is the excellent venue for American pianist Brad Mehldau. He has often accompanied Pat Metheny, Charlie Hayden and Joshua Redman, because of his interpretations of latent alternative rock stars such as Eliot Smith or Nick Drake and younger audience will probably be most interested in his music.
The following day (28 October) in the same venue, a bassist from Israel Avishai Cohen will perform his music.
The main attraction of the festival, American singer Dee Dee Bridgewater will close the 23rd Belgrade Jazz Festival. This two-time Emmy winner has dedicated her newest album „Red Earth“ to exploration of music heritage of Mali.
