A live concert of “The Police”, a famous British band
It is certainly one of the most extraordinary events that will take place in Belgrade in 2008. In the world of music, the importance of this band is, among other means, measured by the number of records sold. And the number is the amazing 50 million copies.
This year’s concert in Belgrade is a part of their world tour. The concert will be staged at Belgrade Usce, where the legendary “Rolling stones” delivered last year’s crowd-pleasing performance.
The Belgrade audience will have the pleasure to witness „The Police“ playing their major hits, but also hits made during Sting’s solo career, but a warm-up performance will be given by „Counting Crows“ a popular American band. The concert should last for at least two hours.
The hugely successful tour by "The Police" is actually a reunion tour that once more gathered the legendary rock trio after 30 years, celebrating the year of the band’s birth and the year when “Roxanne”, their biggest hit was launched.
The city of Belgrade is proud to be hosting such an event, since it will be the only one in this part of Europe. The fact that on February 8, 2008, Sting clearly stated the band will not continue working after this tour is finished only intensifies the exclusivity of their upcoming Belgrade performance. "After this reunion tour, there will be no new albums and no future tours" the band’s frontman said.
This year’s tour was declared “tour of the year” by world media and as an extension to the reunion tour it was launched in New Zealand and Australia and will be over by fall time in America.
