Vrnjacka spa

Vrnjacka spa is the most famous spa and the most visited tourist destination in Serbia.
People have been visiting Vrnjacka Spa for already 135 years because of health reasons as well as cultural, sports and other events. The spa got its name after the village of Vrnjci where springs of mineral water were found. First written documents about Vrnjacka Spa is baron Zigmund Herder's report, who did research on national treasures of Serbia at the directive of prince Milos Obrenovic. He considered Vrnjci mineral water of great quality and compared them with famous mineral water springs in Karlovy Vary in Czech Republic.

The medicinal waters of the spa, considered the queen of Serbian tourism, help in curing diabetes, gastrovascular and gynecological diseases. The spa water called Vrnjci water cures cardiovascular diseases.

VrnjackaSpa is situated in central Serbia, 200 km south of Belgrade on the slopes of mount Goc and the valleys of the Vrnjacka and the Lipovacka river. It lies at 220-300 m above sea level. It's characteristic for its mild continental climate with temperately warm summers (average temp. 20°C) and temperately cold winters (average temp. +0,8°C).

Sports and recreation center "Raj" has three grass football pitches, an aethletic track and terrains for smaller sports. Other facilities include saunas, bowling, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and fitness centers. Ski tracks on Goc attract a great number of winter sport lovers. Also, mount Goc has ideal hunting conditions in well arranged hunting area. Podunavac ponds on the Zapadna Morava and  only 10 km from Vrnjci Spa are perfect for those who love rivers and sports fishing.

Many manifestation are held here all year round such as "Cultural Manifestations of Vrnjacka Banja", "Film Scenario Festival", "Book Festival" etc.

How to reach?

By major road  Belgrade-Kraljevo and high-way Belgrade-Nis-Skoplje via Pojat.

What to see?

Zamka cultural program is a unique institution consisting of a gallery, museum, music hall and art academy where many exhibitions are held as well as music and drama programs.

There are organised sightseeings of the nearby monasteries Studenica, Zica, Gradac, Sopocani, Djurdjevi Stupovi and ruins of fortresses Ras, Maglic, Brvenik and Koznik.
